Elevating Studio was founded by Michiel de Moel and Johannes de Jong.
Michiel and Johannes founded Elevating Studio in early 2015. They knew each other for almost 20 years, after they met in the Netherlands working in the same elevator company.
By 2015, the global elevator industry as a whole, had experienced a long period of significant growth – mostly in Asia. And it was very clear to both Johannes and Michiel, that Asia was in great need for more knowledge and know-how on vertical transportation systems.
The shortage of skills in design and operations in the elevator industry, especially in South East Asia, was painfully clear; ‘under-elevated’ buildings causing excessive waiting times; lacking/insufficient national safety codes and standards for elevators and escalators; lack of experienced and skilled installation and maintenance personnel; no or insufficient requirements for independent 3rd party inspections and safety certifications, and many more. Leading to unreliable, un-safe and poor performing lift and escalators systems, un-happy lift users and building owners, and frustrated lift companies!
In 2016, Elevating Studio was certified and accredited by the Dutch Liftinstituut for safety inspections and certifications in whole of South East Asia. The Liftinstituut is one of the most renowned accredited safety companies in the elevator and escalator industry. Since then, Elevating Studio has inspected, tested and certified many elevators and escalators from local and international building owners in the region.
By the beginning of 2018, the company has developed to one of the larger Specialized Vertical Transportation Consultancy companies globally. Elevating Studio has established offices in Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Australia and Finland. From our local offices we manage projects domestically and internationally. We work with any building designer or elevator or escalator owner – be it an architect, developer, commercial owner or MCST – big or small.
Our team members have previous experience and know-how from all different lift brands, technologies and type of buildings.
